1963-1967 training at the state teacher training college Hofwil in Bern

1970-1974 studied at the Free Evangelical Theological Academy Basel (FETA), now called the State Independent Theological University Basel (STH)

1981-1986 he completed his doctoral studies at the University of Bern and received his doctorate in theology in 1986

1986-2016 he was lecturer at the STH Basel for Practical Theology

In 2016 he became emeritus
